The power of (great) video

What kind of person are you?  Are you a Mac person, or are you a Windows person?  Do you want to know what kind of a person I am?  Follow this blog and I will let you know at the end.

I believe that at this critical juncture in time, Apple has, for the first time, a chance to challenge Microsoft’s dominance.  The funny thing is that this possibility has nothing to with quality or performance.

People do not want quarter-inch drills. They want quarter-inch holes.
Professor Emeritus Theodore Levitt, Harvard Business School

You and I are not worried about an operating system. We want to do our work (faster, with more quality), so we can enjoy life. As software-as-a-service (SaaS) continues to mature, more and more applications (processes) become available on the web.  This means that browsers are now starting to take the role that operating system once had.

No matter how indifferent you might be about the operating system, you know the browser still needs it. Moreover, you need a warranty that your browser will delivery its utility (reach your sites on the web) as needed, with sufficient capacity, continuously and securely. In other words, you cannot realize the promised value of your computer when it is not fit for use.  Which brings me to the power of great video.

No virus, no crashes, no headaches.

Did you noticed on how in 30 seconds Apple explained the warranty?

This is the power of great video. Simple, short, clean. Addressing key words only.

See my point?

Would it be great if you could have great videos on your iCloud and weCloud? I agree with you. It would be a lot easier to explain to your customers what you or your business are all about.

…before I go… I told you that I would tell you what kind of person I am. Ok. I’m an OUTCOME person. Windows or Mac… doesn’t really matter.

What, why, how about Blogging. The question you always wanted to ask, and were too afraid to.

Everyone around you seems to be talking about bloging for quite sometime now.  In fact, you have been listening for blogging for so long, that you think that people have evolved towards something even more alien to you. Rest assured that you are not alone in the world.  In fact most of our customers, and people interested in our services, have yet to made any type of commitments towards blogging.  Stay tuned and I will tell you a secret at the end. First, lets go over the fundamentals.

What is blogging?

Is an on-going way for you to express your passion for “something”.  In the case of a professional blog, it needs to refer to what you do.

Example:

I’m passionate about “organization’s business processes”.  Since I remember I always  wanted to optimize things. In the case of business processes I have a passion for making them very efficient and very adaptable.  This blog reflects my passion for optimizing  business processes using a new type of infrastructure - the cloud.

Steps:

Ask yourself the following - “What am I really passionate about?”.  In case you are the CEO of a startup, or you have been in business for some time you should ask - “What was I thinking the day I started my dream?”.  Do you remember. Right it down, and share it with your customers.

Why you should blog?

People do business with other People.  People do business faster with people they know well.

Example:

You don’t know me (yet) - but, there’s a very big chance that after reading this blog, you will feel more inclined to know more about 3WCloud. If I write about problems that you also experience, and if my solutions resonate with you,  then we are already leveling out.  You would like to solve the way your business processes work, and I love business processes.  That is a far bigger heads up then you get from most businesses.  Do you agree? (if you don’t please make sure to put comments below - I would love to hear from you, because, even I think that I’m getting to know you!

Steps:

In your next blog, get real close to your customers.  Write as if you were writing to a friend.  That’s exactly what I’m doing.  Imagine you were having a coffee at your local Starbucks. At every next paragraph you should have the feeling that you’re knowing each one of your customers a little bit better.

How do you blog?

Blogging is like one of those sports that requires some type of gear (more than a football… or baskball)… like windsurfing.

These early steps can discourage most at the beginning. If you are a CEO, or person with a lot of hats, it’s even more frustating because of lack of time.  Fortunately there’s people out there using video for more than explaining how to rig a windsurfing… if you are in a hurry about blogging your passion, follow this video’s instructions.

Conclusion

Blogging is a great way to make your customers want to do business with you… more.  People do business with whom they know.  When they buy they make more than just a financial transaction.  They do a emotional committment with either you or your brand.  If you are the CEO, they will want to hear from you.

…before I go…

Remember when I told you about a secret?  Copy little sentences from the emails you get, and other articles you read about your industry (example: windshield repair). Paste them all into a single word editor (example: ms-word).  When you have 2 pages of “stuff” stop copying and paste. Work on making sense of all these news, exactly 10 minutes a day (you can do this while you drink your morning coffee). When you have about 500 words you got to the ideal blog size.  That’s it!  You’re done.
